"Not one drop of my self-worth depends on your acceptance of me."
This is a man's world. This is a man's world
But it wouldn't be nothing, nothing without a woman or a girl
He's lost in the wilderness
He's lost in bitterness, he's lost lost
-from James Brown's song "It's a man's, man's, man's world"
When I was scolded by my father as a child, I used to hide behind my grandma's skirt. It was always either my mom or my grandma who protected me from my father's rage whenever I did something wrong (or not really). That feeling of safety and even sanctity I had behind my grandma's skirt...that's what I can first think of when it comes to feminine energy. It's a nurturing, forgiving and comforting feeling that tells you everything is gonna be alright no matter how harsh the storm seems right now.
Eye cutting ritual from the movie "Andalusian Dog" (1929), the first surrealist film by Luis Bunuel & Salvadore Dali. Eye needed to be destroyed as it symbolizes excessive logic and also considered to be the most bourgeois organ in our body as it "judges". The destruction of eye opens the gate of unconsciouss, the Mother and feminine principle. The director himself played the role of the butcher... more like a priest and shaman.
Boim Hwang has been living her life with high intensity and she brings intensity to everything she does. She loves sushi because it's raw like herself and is afraid of hipsters more than ghosts or serial killers.
